Eastern Hemisphere: Mongolia

Mongolia was another very brief stop. As we explored China, many aspects of Mongolia were also studied. It can be hard to seperate the two as their histories are intertwined to such a large degree.

Books
The Mongols by Robert Nicholson
Gengis Kahn and the Mongol Horde by Harold Lamb
Children Just Like Me by Kindersley
Material World by Peter Menzel
Hungry Planet by Menzel and D'Aluisio

The older children colored maps of the Mongolian Empire surrounded by facts, drew Genghis Kahn and surrounded him with facts from their readings, and colored the modern flag.

The little girls colored the country, flag, and all important horse and yurt. They then narrated all they had learned.

This was a quick but informative stop on our journey.
Next stop: RUSSIA
