Storm Watch

While the rest of the US has been blanketed in snow and ice from storm after relentless storm, we in California have been experiencing a severe drought. The lack of storms is what kept making news here. So, we watched and waited for the desperately needed rain. Finally it came. Everyone bundled up and, briefly, romped in all that wonderful wetness.

Finally, Snow!

They've waited and waited and waited all through the long wet cold winter. A couple of times tantalizing flurries teased the snow hungry littles. But, alas, nothing stuck until this morning when no one had even contemplated fluffy white joy. We awoke to whiteness. Not a lot but enough to elicit little squeels of "SNOW!" as Dominic ran from room to room to wake his siblings.

Xavier prepping for his first snow fun.
Dominic loved dressing for the big event and scooping snowballs like the big kids
but the cold sent him scurrying back into the warm house very quickly.
Quinton, all boy, thrilled at the freedom to throw icy balls at his sisters. Ah, the joy of snow!
Collette and Olivia all bundled up.
The whole crew on the slope.
My poor gardens.
I can't believe I just got a sunburn last weekend from the hours spent planting seeds.
Sweet peas- Supposedly they like the cold.
Blaise was in puppy heaven.

The snow melted quickly but it was enough - enough to throw a few snow balls and save some in the freezer for later. Now we can contentedly look forward to spring and replanting the gardens.
