Today we spent a lovely day decorating crowns with copious amounts of glitter, reading all our Epiphany books including The Legend of Old Befana, The Story of the Three Wise Kings, and The Last Straw, and watching far too many renditions of We Three Kings of Orient Are on YouTube.
This was also the day that I promised to allow the unfettered destruction and consumption of the gingerbread house. The children have been eyeing it for 12 days now and surreptitiously taking bits of candy off as if they were Hansel and Gretal.
Total destruction within 15 minutes. My one rule was that they could not complain about a stomach ache!
We ended the day with the children processing into the dining room with little gifts for the baby Jesus. Each was dressed in a most kingly fashion and bore anything from flakes of gold and chocolate coins to a scarf with a skull and crossbones on it. That last one was Dominic's choice! The meatloaf had stars of ketchup on it and the pineapple was cut into star shapes. Finally, for dessert, we had cupcakes with crowns decorated on them. Collette found the tiny crown hidden in her cupcake so she was gifted the news of the day: Baby 7 will be here this summer, God willing.
